TCT Press Release – August 14, 2020

In response to the August 14, 2020, WIBW story “ Sen. Moran, Rep. Marshall seek answers for Hillsboro on high-speed broadband service”, it is with sincere appreciation that TCT would like to thank Sen. Jerry Moran and Rep. Roger Marshall for interceding with the US Army-Corps, on behalf of Kansas Broadband providers, on the topic of non-recreational outgrant applications. While TCT respects the Army-Corps processes and understands their commitment and duty to maintain and preserve our water ways, we believe it is also important to connect Americans to quality broadband, in the most affordable way possible.

TCT would like to recognize our communications between the cooperative and the local Army-Corps staff was very cordial, and the local staff did everything within their power to propel the project forward. Unfortunately, policies at the Federal Level are currently not flexible or expedient, and therefore prohibited us from moving forward with the project at the rate we needed to proceed. It is our hope that by bringing attention to the issue a collaboration between Sen. Jerry Moran and Rep. Roger Marshall and the US Army-Corp can be reached to ensure that future broadband projects will be processed in a more rapid manner.
